Are you passionate about breastfeeding? Are you interested in learning ways to help mentor and support new mothers within your community? About this event Register today for this VIRTUAL based 20-hour training and increase your breastfeeding knowledge, skills, and supportive techniques to become a Breastfeeding Peer Counselor.

There will be five online sessions held daily from 8:15am to 12:30pm PST (four hours each day) beginning Monday, August 2nd and ending Friday, August 6th.

A few days prior to the start of the virtual training, a member of our team will provide you with a secure link to access the virtual training. Please DO NOT share this link with anyone.

A breastfeeding peer counselor is a mother in the community with personal breastfeeding experience who is trained to give information and support to new moms.

WHAT DOES A BREASTFEEDING PEER COUNSELOR DO?

Promotes breastfeeding and helps you make an informed decision about feeding your baby. Contacts you to build confidence and support your breastfeeding goals. Responds to breastfeeding questions or concerns you might have. Refers you to WIC breastfeeding experts for more help.

HOW CAN A BREASTFEEDING PEER COUNSELOR HELP YOU?

Your breastfeeding peer counselor can give you:

  • Ways to get a good start with breastfeeding;
  • Tips for making plenty of breast milk for your baby;
  • Help with breastfeeding concerns;
  • Ideas for getting support from your family and friends;
  • Ways you can stay close to your baby through breastfeeding after you return to work or school; and
  • Tips for how to breastfeed comfortably and discreetly, even in public.
