AB 2160 is a bill that would expand access to lactation support for families enrolled in Medi-Cal by allowing International Board Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLCs) to enroll as Medi-Cal providers and bill directly for their services, while eliminating the need for physician referrals. It cuts through the red tape so that low-income families across California can access the expert lactation care they deserve, when they need it most. The California Breastfeeding Coalition is proud to be a co-sponsor of this legislation alongside the California WIC Association.
Now we need your help to get it across the finish line. One of the most impactful things you can do right now is submit a letter of support for AB 2160 and the deadline is April 1st at noon. Letters must be submitted through the California Advocates portal, and we have a sample template ready for you to use.
