Special guest, Angela Spicer is a comedian, writer, actress—and an unstoppable maternal health advocate. Known for her sharp wit and heartfelt storytelling, Angela has turned her own experience with postpartum depression into a platform for national awareness, action, and healing.
After a harrowing postpartum hospitalization, Angela launched herself into the world of advocacy with one mission: to destigmatize maternal mental health and make sure no birthing person suffers in silence. She has testified before Congress, served on the California Task Force on Maternal Mental Health, and partnered with leading organizations like 2020 Mom, March of Dimes, and the Blue Shield of California Foundation. Through her comedy, public speaking, and nonprofit work, Angela reaches families, providers, and policymakers with one clear message—our system must do better, and healing starts with truth-telling.
Angela is also the founder of the Spicer Family Mental Health Advocacy Foundation, which works to expand education and access to perinatal mental health support across communities of color. Her work has been featured in Essence, Parents, HuffPost, The Atlantic, and more.
We are honored to recognize Angela Spicer with the Maternal Health Advocate Award and to welcome her as one of our special guests at the 2025 Lactation Impact Awards.
