The 2022 California Breastfeeding Summit is coming to Northern California!

It’s been two years since we’ve gathered together in-person and we’re looking forward to the opportunity to share information, best practices and cultivate collaborative relationships at this year’s Summit.

We are continuing our commitment this year to offer the most current research and practices on lactation and lactation support while leaving you energized and motivated to improve the infant-feeding landscape in our state.

Our goal is to ensure all babies have access to human milk. That milk might come from their own mothers, their birth parent, or from another lactating individual — it might be delivered directly from the breast, through a bottle, cup, spoon or syringe.

We pledge to provide the latest in state, national and global policies impacting breastfeeding and lactation practices and care. We also provide a forum by which researchers and practitioners can share what they are seeing, hearing and experiencing out in the field.

The summit is an annual catalyst for action, empowering attendees to address the structural and institutional racism and inequities of breastfeeding and lactation care and support that prevent families from meeting their breastfeeding and lactation goals.

The presentations and discussions at the summit support the Surgeon General’s Call to Action to Support Breastfeeding, the California Department of Public Health’s Vision for Breastfeeding 2035 and cover timely topics related to breastfeeding, lactation and the use of donor human milk.

COVID SAFETY POLICIES AND RESTRICTIONS

San Jose is located in Santa Clara County, which is among eight Bay Area counties that require masks indoors in public places regardless of vaccination status.

Knowing things can change between now and late January, we are moving forward with the following plan for the Summit based on county, state and CDC policies and guidelines.

COVID VACCINE OR NEGATIVE TEST REQUIRED

Before entering the conference areas, all attendees, regardless of age, are required to show proof of full COVID vaccination (final dose administered no later than Jan. 10) or of a negative result from a COVID test, taken within 72 hours of performance time.

PROOF OF VACCINE

“Fully vaccinated” means you have received your final vaccine dose on or before Jan. 10, 2022. Proof of vaccination can be a physical vaccination card, a photo on your phone of your vaccination card, or a digital vaccination record. You may request a digital vaccination record at MyVaccineRecord.cdph.ca.gov.

PROOF OF NEGATIVE COVID TEST

PCR or rapid antigen test results will be accepted, as long as the test is taken within 72 hours of the event. Negative test result documentation must be in writing and from a medical professional or laboratory. A photo of your negative result documentation will also be accepted.

Negative results from a home test that are accessed through a CDC-approved mobile app will also be accepted, as long as the name on the results documentation matches the name on your photo ID. Following is info on two tests that can be used with apps that meet the documentation requirement for matching a name with a photo ID:

Home test results that are not from those CDC-approved mobile apps will not be accepted.
