It’s with abundant hearts and grassroots efforts that we invite all Native and Indigenous self-identifying and reconnecting pregnant and lactating peoples and their families to be nourished and celebrated during Indigenous Milk Medicine Week 2023 on Tongva Ancestral Lands.
What is Indigenous Milk Medicine Week (IMMW)?
IMMW was created by a collective a Native American women, two-spirit, and femme lactation providers and supporters to increase support and resources for Native first food experiences, promote healing and wellness, and push for access, opportunity, visibility, and equity in Indigenous Milk experiences.
Indigenous identifying community members, birthworkers, midwives, and perinatal health educators are encouraged to attend. Allies are welcome.
There will be poetry, a panel discussion with storytelling, workshops, nourishment, raffles, prizes and more!
Chichihualtia (breastfeeding in Nahuatl) will also be offering a virtual workshop on the Mindful Milk Expression technique and method that incorporates mindfulness and ritual during milk expression routines as an IMMW fundraiser. This is a $20 minimum donation. If you’re interested in having us bring this workshop to your audience to help us raise funds for our IMMW event anytime throughout the year, please let us know! Email info@chichihualtia.org for more information if you are interested. See flier for more information. You can check out our IG Live about this workshop here.
Feel free to share on social media and tag us @Chichihualtia, hashtag #IndigenousMilkMedicineWeek and like, share and bump our posts! You may share in email, newsletters, or other platforms. We’d also love to see you there!
