• Kairis Chiaji, Executive Founder, Children of the Sun BP Doulas, Inc.
• Juanita Weathersby, BSN, RN, IBCLC, Haven for Birth
Target Audience: Doulas, Midwives, Lactation Professionals, Perinatal Nurses, Home Visiting PHNs, Community Health Workers, and CPSP Provider Staff(CPHWs)
Goal of Course: To acknowledge the unique benefits that pregnant people gain from Doulas’ prenatal, intrapartum, and postpartum support, which enhances the breastfeeding care provided by Hospital postpartum Nurses, Midwives, & Lactation Consultants.
Learning Objectives:
• Discuss the benefits that Breastfeeding people gain from doula support during Breastfeeding initiation and duration.
• Understand how the DCHS Medi-Cal Doula Benefit Operates.
• Identify 3 ways to promote, support, respect, and collaborate between doulas, lactation consultants, and the L&D postpartum team.
