National Breastfeeding Month

August is National Breastfeeding Month!

The annual observance of National Breastfeeding Month kicks off with World Breastfeeding Week and continues with dedicated campaigns in support of lactation awareness among Indigenous, Asian American, Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander (AANHPI), and Black communities.

This year’s National Breastfeeding Month (NBM2022) theme is Together We Do Great Things.

According to the U.S. Breastfeeding Committee (USBC), the theme is a celebration of the power and impact of our collective efforts. When we work together all day, every day, we can make change last.

The California Breastfeeding Coalition, Mothers' Milk Bank San Jose, and UC Health Milk Bank — are kicking off a year-long campaign promoting the use of donor human milk on Aug. 1, 2022.

Just in time for National Breastfeeding Month and World Breastfeeding Week, the California Breastfeeding Coalition is launching a campaign to bring awareness to the need for and benefits of donor human milk.

The year-long campaign, created in partnership with the state’s two nonprofit milk banks — Mothers’ Milk Bank San Jose and UC Health Milk Bank in San Diego — seeks to reach prospective donors to boost the milk banks’ capacity for serving hospital neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) and families with fragile infants.

You can access the CBC’s #NBM22 Social Media Toolkit here. Information on the donor human milk campaign, along with social media assets and captions begins on Page 3.
