Tongue-tie affects more than sore nipples. It may be a factor in a baby not latching on. It is an important factor in late-onset decreased milk supply and flow. It is also a factor in recurrent blocked ducts and mastitis and even breast abscesses.

Tongue-tie alone is not the issue. Tongue-tie is not new. What’s new is routine birth practices that “help with breastfeeding” after the birth. The initiation of breastfeeding is terrible in most North American hospitals, and the terrible initiation combined with a tongue tie is what makes a tongue tie, so important an issue.

How do we know if a frenulum is causing a tongue tie? Does a tongue tie always cause problems immediately after birth? When should a tongue tie be released and how is it done? What is the proper aftercare? He will answer all these questions; as well, as yours
