LACTATION ACTION NETWORK
What is the Lactation Action Network?
The Lactation Action Network (LAN) is the advocacy arm of the California Breastfeeding Coalition. We work with the California WIC Association, Legal Aid at Work, California Work and Family Coalition and other stakeholders to collaboratively address the systemic and institutional barriers to lactation and human milk feeding at the policy level. LAN participants are the voices for chest/breastfeeding families in their communities, in Sacramento and in Washington, DC.
Educate your Legislators About Issues that Impact Lactation!
Every year the Lactation Action Network convenes upon the State Capitol to inform California legislators about important issues related to lactation. Our advocates visit legislative offices in person and online. Each year, the Lactation Action Network sponsors Advocacy Day during the California Breastfeeding Summit. Network members stay in touch monthly through email communications and a standing meeting.

In 2022, the Lactation Action Network and CBC staff joined the California Work and Family Coalition, Legal Aid at Work and other stakeholders to lobby for the passage of SB 951. Signed into law on Sept. 30, 2022, this bill increases the wage replaces for workers who qualify for State Disability Insurance and Paid Family Leave.
