Objectives: By the end of the webinar, attendees will be able to:
- Apply the science of the mechanisms of protection of other viral illnesses of the mother-birthing person and how human milk protects the baby.
- State the significance of promoting breastfeeding and expression of human milk in the NICU setting and when there is mother-birthing person/baby separation.
- Explore best practices to support pump-dependent mothers and birthing people.
- Describe how to establish and maintain milk supply during mother-birthing person/baby separation.
- Provide instructions on safe handling and storage of human milk for COVID-19 positive and PUI birthing people in the hospital and at home.
- Share resources and tools to maintain a human milk diet and support the use of pasteurized donor human milk.
