SB 388 – Breastfeeding: Breast Pumps
Last Update: Dead bill. Never heard in a policy committee.
About the Bill: Existing law requires the State Department of Public Health to promote the breastfeeding of infants in its public service campaign. Existing law vests authority for enforcing state laws governing health care service plans in the Department of Managed Health Care.
This bill would express the intent of the Legislature to enact legislation that would provide that infant feeding of breast milk should be encouraged and that would require health care service plans to provide reimbursement for the widest variety of choices and styles of breast milk pumps to facilitate their use and acceptance. The bill would express the further intent of the Legislature to enact legislation that would give the Department of Managed Health Care the authority to require health care service plans to provide that reimbursement under a specified condition.
