Creating welcoming, inclusive environments for breastfeeding families is an ongoing effort—and The Lactation Network is taking it one step further with their initiative: Room at the Table. This campaign is designed to help restaurants become breastfeeding-friendly spaces by providing tools, education, and clear signage that lets families know they’re welcome to feed their babies comfortably and without judgment.
The initiative includes a comprehensive Breastfeeding-Friendly Spaces Guide, outlining simple yet impactful steps businesses can take to support lactating parents. From training staff on how to respond supportively to nursing patrons, to displaying visible “Breastfeeding Welcome Here” decals on windows, Room at the Table is a powerful reminder that small changes in public spaces can make a big difference for families.
At the California Breastfeeding Coalition, we believe in normalizing breastfeeding across all spaces—especially those where families gather and make memories. We’re thrilled to see campaigns like this promoting dignity, respect, and access for all breastfeeding parents.
